Harmony InSpires is a vibrant, award-winning women’s a cappella chorus singing four-part harmony in a dazzling array of styles – from musical theatre favourites and pop classics to heartfelt ballads. Formed in 2007, we’ve grown into a dynamic, diverse group of around 50 members, united by a shared passion for music, joy, and togetherness.
Under the inspirational leadership of our Musical Director, Hari Birtles, we’ve achieved the fastest improvement levels in the history of female British barbershop – a journey that led us to win the LABBS Most Improved Chorus award in 2024. Hari was also honoured with the Director of the Most Improved Chorus award, proudly taking home not one, but two giant trophies – a moment of celebration and pride for the entire chorus! Just a few months later we were also crowned winners of the 2025 Oxford Music Festivals Choir Competition, receiving the Edmund Rubbra Cup...we're soon going to have to get our own trophy cabinet!
We are more than just a choir; we’re a team rooted in positivity, inclusivity, and fun. Our weekly Wednesday night rehearsals at the Marcham Centre are full of energy, laughter, and learning, with regular coaching from world-class educators like Sally McLean. We love to perform, taking part in sing-outs, concerts, and national competitions – including the prestigious LABBS convention.
